Men’s Fall and Winter Business Wardrobe Essentials

By Steve

No man who cares to uphold his reputation can afford to be indifferent to good clothes. His personal appearance is his first impression. If his attire reflects quality and refinement, he wins a decided advantage in the struggle for public esteem.

A well-groomed appearance is an important asset to the business man. It suggests prosperity. It indicates a personal pride—a virtue as different from vanity as confidence is from idle boasting.

There was a time when, in order to be well dressed, a man had to be rich—or, if not rich, extravagant. But nowadays, with the supremacy of custom (made to measure) clothes, there are few if not any excuses for a man to not appear in garments exuding a decided air of distinction.

To dress well is to dress appropriately. An important element of dress is to select clothes that, by fit and character, appear as a living, breathing part of you. This is why you notice the clothes of a really well-dressed man as an after-thought.

In these days of customization, where distinct styles and models of garments are pointed toward special occasions and trends, a man should dress strictly in accord with the described dictates. The garments shown here are designed with an intelligent and practical understanding of these dictates.

Furthermore, there are certain prescribed properties in furnishing fashion. Men, however, do not find time to study these properties. The following photographs thus give you a selection of the proper suit, the right shirt, tie and pocket square, and the most comfortable shoes.

One might compare business clothes with book covers. We value books for their content. Yet the books we appreciate most are nicely printed on good paper and in a fine, serviceable binding. Similarly, it is the pleasure and pride of every man to see himself clad in the sort of clothes that—with distinction—add intelligence to his appearance.
