How to Dress for Summer: 5 Must Have Wool Suits for Men

By Steve

As the spring and summer seasons approach, it’s time to think about how to dress for summer. It’s time to transition from those flannel-weight fall/winter suits and slide into some summer wool. While comfort is key for your summer wardrobe, the well-dressed man knows regardless that intelligent and long-lasting looks are also essential.

Here are 5 Examples of How to Dress For Summer in a Wool Suit:

Are Wool Suits Hot in the Summer?

Absolutely not! They can be worn all day, every day. Here are a few points to help you better understand the many benefits of a summer wool suit:

Wool is cool. Wool combines comfort with style. Light-weight woolens are the smartest, as well as the most comfortable, fabrics for hot weather wear. The summer-weight woolens which make up these suits have the body and stamina for tailoring as well.

Wool is light in weight. The strength of woolen fibers makes it practical to weave them into open, porous fabrics, combining tailoring quality with extremely light weight. And because these fibers are hollow, they have an actual thermostatic effect: shutting out summer heat while allowing your pores to breathe.

Wool is resilient. Woolen fibers woven into suit fabrics have great tensile strength and resilience. This means that the smart styling and expert tailoring that goes into every suit is there to stay. You can give your suit the hard wear bound to come with hot weather while retaining your suit’s good looks.

Is Wool Blend Good for Summer?

There are two drawbacks of many summer suit materials (100% linen and 100% cotton): their untidy appearance after a few hours of wear and the consequent high up-keep for cleaning and pressing. For all the wrinkle chasers who admire the look and texture of a summer linen suit but could never bring themselves to purchase one, here’s your chance. Italy’s E. Thomas and Rogna fabric mill have created a wonderfully balanced blend of wool, silk and linen offering great tailoring quality (seen in the green and gray suit above) and performance. These blends hold their shape longer than 100% linen and 100% cotton and, when hung up after wearing, fall naturally back into shape. These wool blends are truly comfortable and enjoyable to wear. Wrinkle free? Not exactly. Wrinkle resistant?Compared to 100% linen, yes.
